Why do you need an Internet presence?

Though having a site on the World Wide Web seems to be the "in thing", is it justified in terms of your business? According to a study by Nielsen, there will be an estimated 132.75 million people on the Internet, which is equal to almost half of the United States population!

Use of the Internet is more than a gimmick; it has some serious business applications. Approximately 14% of Web surfers have purchased products or services over the Internet. Roughly half of the adult population of the Internet (16 years of ago or older) use the Internet for business purposes.

When you have a presence on the Internet, you are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to the large Internet population. It is estimated that the American adult Internet population is about the same as the number of people who tune in to watch "ER" every week. Can you imagine how much a 30 second commercial on "ER" would cost? (Not to mention it would be one-time only.)

Additionally, Internet users are the kind of customers you want. Most (64%) Internet users have college degrees. Internet users tend to be in the upper income bracket, with 25% of users having incomes of over $80,000 per year. Also, 50% of Web surfers are in professional or managerial positions in their careers.

So can you afford not to be on the Internet?
